I'm feeling pensive... as though i am withdrawing and i'm not really sure why. It's a weird mixture of lonliness and deliberate isolation, i can't seem to focus my mind onto anything, i can't stop and do anything, i havn't been able to sit still all day.

There are loads of things i'm sure i should be doing if i could stand still long enough to realise it. I have a dissertation to do, but feel as though i am 'stuck in a rut' with it. I can't face getting my work out and staring at it aimlessly.

I dislike how weak i am becoming, how weak i have always been. I need to stop moping around and force myself to work, to achieve to accomplish...

First time for a smoke though...

I actually once put on weight and was really devastated about it.

Realisations and Radical Action

It hit me earlier on today, that i have 1,900 pounds worth of tuition fee's to pay, i have no job, no savings, and can barely afford to pay for rent and food. I have no idea how i am going to come up with the money i need.

After some thought, i've come to a number of solutions. First of all i'm going to set myself goals, how much money i want to try and bring in each month, and how much effort i need to put it to achieve this.

1. Get back into Poker.
I love poker, it's a tense, nail biting affair on occasions, sometimes it makes me enraged, and other times suprimely smug.

2. I will look into affiliate marketing, and anyone else who maintains a blog or a website of their own should consider it too. Have a look at:

Time for an entry

Because i've been so lazy recently!

I was reading a book about Chairman Mao last night, and was really struck by the way that man has slipped by without the Western World really knowing what kind of a monster he was. Now, we all know about Hitler, and the infamous six million, but i wonder how many of you all know that Mao was responsible for well over 70 million deaths during 'peacetime', the highest count of all twentieth century leaders.

Somehow this got me onto thinking about life, and a strange thought hit me, i have only six decades of life left to go. I'm 22 now, so 'all being well' if i lived to 82 that still only leaves me six decades left to do all the things i need/want to do in life. Being more of a 'thinker' than a 'do-er' means i like pondering philosophically from my armchair about life, but i never actually get up and DO anything, i don't achieve anything. I'm lazy, and typical. A typical Middle class Western lazy student. God i hate myself. It's sickening. This isn't what i want to be. Surely i was born for something more than this? (God, what an ego.)

On that note, i decided to make myself a list, a monthly list of things i want to achieve. This february, i want to write another twenty articals on topics of my choice. I want to read at least five books, and attend ALL of my lectures (no excuses). Writing about it here kind of formalises it, and makes it official. Now i have to do it else... well, the internet might come and chop off my head or something....

A simple guide to achieving success in life

Do you want to be 'mediocre'? and accept second best in this life? Well i don't, and it's something i've been thinking about a lot recently.

What have you achieved so far in your life? I challenge you to write down a list. Now... my friends, take a look at this:

* March Tian Boedihardjo: In 1998, he gained entry into Hong Kong Baptist University to study mathematics at the age of 9, becoming the youngest ever university student in Hong Kong.

*Kim Ung-Yong: Attended university physics courses at age 4, Ph.D in physics before age 15.

*Akrit Jaswal: India's youngest university student. He carried out a surgical operation aged 7

*Jackie Cooper: Youngest nominee for the Best Actor Oscar at age 9.

*William Cullen Bryant: Published at ten, had a book of political satire poems at 13

*Gregory R. Smith: He entered college at age 10 and was first nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize at age 12

*Saul Kripke: Invited to apply for a teaching post at Harvard while still in high school

*Tiger Woods: He first won the Optimist International Junior tournament at age 8, playing in the 9-10 age group since there was no group for 8-year-olds at the time

These are people who are pushing themselves to their potential, and actually achieving success before most of us could dress ourselves (well near enough). To increase your chances of being successfull in life, read my artical!

God, it is the end of January already. How can this be possible? Time appears to be defying the laws of Physics or something, because i can't believe we are one whole month into 2009! I have very little to show for it, it's passed in some kind of haze, same with the whole of my life when i think about it.

Life is going very fast, I'm twenty two years old, i remember when i never thought i would get this far in life. "The past will catch you up, as you run faster" (points for anyone who knows the name of the band and the song - *no googling!*) I don't even think i have any clear memories of the past anymore.

The past is gone, and exists nowhere in our current 'reality', and the future does not yet exist, it hasn't happened yet. So that only leaves us with the present (bare with me here...) and the present moment is so very infinitesimally small, no sooner is it here, than it is gone and joined the ghosts of the past. It is only each particular 'moment' that is real, is existence only a series of 'moments' strung together?

Well on that note, i shall leave you pondering that for a minuet. I've got to go and figure out how this site works, and make my blog a bit more appealing to the eye!
